Pinoy Media Congress 2023 DAY 1 held at CvSU

After the three-year online gathering of multimedia and communications students due to the pandemic, Pinoy Media Congress (PMC) 2023 was finally held in-person last April 29, at Cavite State University (CvSU).

The event was opened by the student MCs from the host University followed by the opening message of the PACE President, Mr. Mark Lester Chico. The audience was then welcomed by the Dean of the Communications Department of CvSU, Dean Bettina Ilagan.


The first speaker was Dr. Rosario Roan Cristobal which was the person behind one of the longest-running educational show, ‘Sineskwela’. The show aired for 13 years. 


She discussed the importance of science communication in today’s media that is why she proposed the collaboration between pop culture and science so it will be more engaging to the newer audience.


This year’s PMC welcomed the head of Star Music and Star Pop of Abs-cbn, Mr. Roxy Liquigan. He delivered his message to aspiring producers and songwriters to never stop writing music and make use of today’s media as it can lead to discovery. 


He introduced artists under Star Music and Star Pop who were currently making name locally and globally such as groups like Bini, and BGYO, and soloists like, Maymay Entrata, KZ Tandingan, Morisette Amon, and Angela Ken.


The last speaker for PMC 2023 was the head of Abs-cbn’s Film Restoration, Mr. Leo Katigbak. He introduced the audience to different generations of movies, how it gets damaged over time and how long it takes to be restored.


He showed examples of restored movies like ‘Himala’ and ‘Ibong Adarna’. The star of the afternoon session was still connected to film restoration as the audience had the experience to watch the restored full movie of ‘Captain Barbell’ lead by ‘Dolphy’.
